Past PresidentRobert KnittleTerm ends June 2027 | Bob Knittle is a 38 year educator who has just recently retired after a great deal of enriching experiences. While always looking to help students find inner success, he spent many years teaching at middle and high school, including teaching in both private and public, as well as urban and rural. He has worked as an Instructional Coach, a trainer of Math Coaches, as well as finishing his time providing leadership as a K-12 Math Director. He finds great joy helping teachers learn ways to encourage students to unlock their learning. Bob will be looking to continue impacting learning, through consulting within a variety of educational opportunities across our amazing profession. He lives at home with his wife of 36 years, as well as his Mother-In-Law. |

DirectorScholarship ChairDeatrice JohnsonSpringfield Public Schools Term ends June 2028 | Deatrice Johnson, PhD, currently works as the director of secondary mathematics for Springfield Public Schools. Prior to this role, she worked as a high school mathematics coach, a mathematics department chairperson and secondary math educator, including a focus on International Baccalaureate mathematics studies. Her classroom teaching experience includes both high school and middle school mathematics. She is currently a member of the Grade 10 DESE Mathematics Assessment Development Committee and has served on this committee for eight years. She is an alum of Springfield Public Schools and committed to supporting mathematics achievement and career development for all students in this community. She is enthusiastic about developing and supporting culturally responsive math teachers. Deatrice enjoys reading, watching a good movie, and singing gospel songs. |

DirectorMini-GrantsJoey FlournoyBerlin/Boylston Public Schools Term ends June 2026 | Joseph Flournoy has over 30 years of experience in education, with a diverse background in special education, mathematics instruction, and educational leadership. He began his career working for five years at the New England Center for Children, where he supported students with autism and other developmental disabilities. He then spent seven years teaching special education in Worcester, MA, before transitioning to a 13-year tenure as a middle school mathematics teacher. For the past seven years, Joseph has been part of the Berlin-Boylston Regional School District, initially as a Title 1 teacher and, more recently, as a Mathematics Instructional Coach at the elementary level. His work focuses on supporting teachers and students to strengthen math instruction and promote academic success. |

She previously taught 7th and 8th grade math in Salem. In her classroom, Samantha strives to help her students see themselves as mathematicians, and pushes them to be active participants in their own learning. She enjoys collaborating with other educators through ATMIM as well as the Desmos Fellowship Program. |
Hospitality/RegistrarKate ColemanEducation Development Center | Kate Coleman, a project director at the Education Development Center (EDC), has a career in education spanning over 20 years. She began as an elementary teacher and later transitioned to an elementary mathematics coach. Now, as a project director at EDC, Kate specializes in designing innovative and effective curricula, assessments, and professional development programs in mathematics and computer science. Her passion lies in enhancing educational outcomes by working closely with students and teachers to foster a love for learning and implement effective instructional practices. She is dedicated to advancing education through thoughtful, research-based strategies that empower both educators and learners. Kate enjoys running and has completed four of the six World Marathon Majors, with plans to finish the final two in the coming years. She lives with her husband, two children, and two dogs. |
